Lusaka city man chased by swarm of bees after trying to snatch Gucci handbag from woman walking near Cairo road

A dramatic scene unfolded in Lusaka on Tuesday evening after a suspected phone and handbag thief was attacked by a swarm of bees moments after attempting to rob a woman at Cairo road. The bizarre incident drew a huge crowd as the man ran through Cairo road screaming for help while covered in hundreds of stinging insects.

According to witnesses, the suspect approached a woman who was walking alone toward the Cairo road and grabbed her Gucci handbag before attempting to flee toward Downtown. Within seconds, a loud buzzing sound filled the air as a swarm of bees descended on him, forcing him to drop the bag and roll on the pavement in pain.

“The man had just snatched the handbag when we saw bees come out of nowhere,” said bus driver Dingiswayo Banda, who witnessed the incident. “He fell down, started shouting, and rolled all over the ground. Nobody could get close to help him because the bees were too many.”

The woman quickly retrieved her handbag and took shelter in a nearby boutique. Police officers on patrol arrived moments later but had to wait until the bees dispersed before arresting the man. He was later taken to Maina Soko hospital for treatment.

Lusaka Central Police Commander Hakaantu Kaponda confirmed the incident, describing it as one of the strangest cases of street justice witnessed in recent times. “We are investigating the source of the bees, but residents should avoid taking the law into their own hands,” he said.

By evening, videos of the incident had gone viral on social media, with many users suggesting that the woman could have been under spiritual protection. Some claimed the bees were not ordinary but may have been part of a traditional safety charm meant to guard against theft.

Local traders around Cairo road said it was not the first time bees had appeared mysteriously after an attempted robbery, fueling speculation that certain individuals in the city use spiritual means for protection.

For those seeking similar protection from danger or criminal attacks, spiritual healer Dr. Mawanda offers faith-based charms and protective rings designed to shield individuals from harm.
