Residents of Nairobi City were caught by surprise after nine men emerged carrying televisions, gas cylinders and mattresses amongst other stolen valuables and confessed they had stolen from a popular supermarket during the ongoing Gen Z demonstrations.
The owner of the stolen items had reportedly visited a traditional herbalist Super Sangoma Mawanda who later “arrested the thieves.”
The incident attracted a huge crowd as resident milled around to catch a glimpse of what was happening as the men were paraded in town. This was after they had reportedly visited the traditional herbalist who cleansed them.
The owner of the supermarket said that she had reported the matter to the police but she also sought other ways to punish the criminals.
Another shopkeeper said if there was an alternative way of exposing and arresting criminals other than going to the police then he was in support because he says sometimes the police take time to investigate and arrest criminals.
